About the Robert J. Fitzmyer Company, Inc.

Robert J. Fitzmyer Co., Inc. had its humble beginnings start on January 1st, 1959.

Robert J. Fitzmyer grew up in Philadelphia and attended the Saint Joseph's Preparatory School. Very shortly after graduating from the Prep Robert was drafted into WWII and trained to be a Forward Observer. He spent one year and 4 months in Europe and at the end of the war attended Villanova. At Villanova Robert obtained his degree in Mechanical Engineering. After graduating from Villanova Robert went to work at The O’Brien Machinery Company as a Pump Sales Engineer.

Mr. Fitzmyer's business was located on Clearfield Street in Philadelphia till 1967 when he bought and moved to a new location in North West Philadelphia.

The company was located at this location till 1991 where the company moved again to its current location in Conshohocken, PA.

Robert (Bob) J. Fitzmyer, 97, of Rosemont, PA passed away peacefully on November 26, 2022.   He was born March 15, 1925. He was the third child of Joseph A. Fitzmyer and Anna (Alexy) Fitzmyer. His predeceased siblings were Joseph A. Fitzmyer, Jr. SJ, Florence Griffin and Marie Dougherty. He grew up in North Philadelphia and attended St Hugh’s elementary school. He was a graduate of St Joseph's Preparatory School, where he was a strong student and a member of the football team.

He was drafted into the Army upon high school graduation in 1942 and served in the 283 Army Battalion. He was a forward observer in the French and Germany theaters of WWll and became an Army corporal. He was awarded 2 bronze stars. He played football in Berlin after the war representing the Second Armored Division.

He attended Villanova University and graduated in 1950 as a mechanical engineer. There he attended daily Mass and was captain of the 150 pound football team. Later, he was inducted into Villanova's Athletic Hall of Fame. He founded the Robert J. Fitzmyer, Co., in 1959, an industrial pump distributorship. Many cherished family members and friends survive him. He has been married to Marie A. Fitzmyer for 72 years and together they have 8 children, 18 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
